The Model Flying Ranch is a project of TUN & Friends.

Halfway between Barcelona and Valencia, just a few kilometres inland from the world famous Ebro Delta, in the south of Catalonia, the Model Flying Ranch is located near the small towns of Tortosa and Roquetes. What was started several years ago by a group of model flying enthusiasts is now a hotspot for all kinds of model flying. But especially the friends of gliding will find a thermally strong area here, which invites to hours of flights in the mild air of the Mediterranean climate. The last World Championship of the GPS Triangle took place here in September 2019. Numerous large and small groups of model pilots use the Model Flying Ranch for their model flying holidays. They reserve the area in advance and can use the infrastructure:

The Model Flying Ranch offers a 17 meter wide and 170 meter long tarred runway, which was completely renovated in 2016, as well as a 30 meter wide and 300 meter long grass runway. At both ends of the tarred runway, there is also a paved runway, each about 80 meters long. A taxiway halfway down the road leads to the partially covered preparation room with stable tables. The facility also includes two hangars, a lounge, a large outdoor barbecue, toilets and showers, hot and cold running water, 220-volt electricity (photovoltaic), Wlan, parking spaces for cars, campers and caravans and much more. There are also numerous hotels in different price and quality classes in the immediate vicinity. City tours to Barcelona or Valencia, extensive bicycle tours through the surrounding area up to the Mediterranean Sea or simply the untouched Catalan life in the villages and cities of the region are also an experience.

Die Model Flying Ranch bietet eine 17 Meter breite und 170 Meter lange Teerpiste, die erst 2016 komplett erneuert wurde, sowie eine 30 Meter breite und 300 Meter lange Graspiste. An beiden Enden der Teerpiste befindet sich außerdem ein jeweils rund 80 Meter langer, befestiger Auslauf. Ein Taxiway auf halber Strecke führt zum teilweise überdachten Vorbereitungsraum mit stabilen Tischen. Außerdem umfasst die Anlage zwei Hangars, einen Aufenthaltsraum, einen großen Außengrill, Toiletten und Duschen, fließend warmes und kaltes Wasser, 220-Volt-Strom (Photovoltaik), Wlan, Parkplätze für Autos, Wohnmobile und Wohnwagen und vieles mehr. In unmittelbarer Nähe befinden sich außerdem zahlreiche Hotels in unterschiedlichen Preis- und Qualitätsklassen. Ein Erlebnis sind auch Städtetouren nach Barcelona oder Valencia, ausgedehnte Fahrradtouren durch das umliegende Gelände bis an das Mittelmeer heran oder auch einfach das unberührte katalanische Leben in den Dörfern und Städten der Region.

Jeder Modellflieger, der auf die Model Flying Ranch gehen möchte und kein Mitglied im ortsansässigen RC Club De’l Ebre ist, muss sich vor seinem Besuch registrieren. Kommen Gruppen auf die MFR, erhalten sie jeweils ein angepasstes Anmeldeformular. Auch um Überschneidungen und das Vermischen verschiedener Modellflugkategorien/Gruppen zu verhindern, ist eine vorherige Kontaktaufnahme mit den Betreibern zwingend erforderlich. Eine Übersicht der Belegung (ohne Gewähr) ist hier ersichtlich. Benutzt eine Gruppe das Gelände, muss ein Mitglied der Gruppe als Verantwortlicher benannt werden. Der muss zudem Mitglied im Förderverein werden, achtet bei der Gruppe auf die Einhaltung des Reglements und brieft die Piloten entsprechend.
